Transylvania County is where I saw my first ghost squirrel colony in the flesh. Based on what I’ve been able to piece together from the contents of the trunk, these squirrels are part of the contingent able to travel through time, having a good time in 21st Century North Carolina, the 19th Century Old West, the early 20th Century Eastern Seaboard, as well as getting involved in a little bit of bootlegging and undersea explorations (their octopus contacts may provide clues to their mastery of time travel).
Their stories, of course, will take time to transpose. In the meantime, we have the following snapshots…

No one knows exactly when ghost squirrels formed an alliance with octopuses … but that was how they found their way to the Quantum.
With their entry into the Quantum, ghost squirrels found their way into many moments in time … including the Roaring 20s of North America.
